Enable Encryption On Your iOS Device For Security

As soon as you set Touch ID or passcode on your device running Apple's iOS 8 or above, your device is automatically encrypted. This does not require any additional steps to turn the encryption on. So firstly, what you need to do is setting Touch ID or a passcode for your iOS device. Let's see how you can do that how to check whether the encryption has been turned on or not.
Navigate to the Settings app on your Home screen then select Touch ID & Passcode from the list of settings displayed. Now from the set of options displayed, tap on Turn Passcode On. Once you do that you will be given the option to enter the passcode that only you know. That's it! The moment your passcode is set, your iOS device will be automatically encrypted.
To check if your device is encrypted, navigate to Settings and then tap on Touch ID & Passcode. Once you're in, scroll down to the bottom and see "Data protection is enabled".
Do take note that you should set a 6-digit passcode instead of a 4-digit for more protection. A longer passcode is always recommended for more security. If you want, you also have the availability to set an alphanumeric passcode, which is a combination of numeric and alphabets. Touch ID is another way that can be used instead of a passcode. However, not all iOS device feature Touch ID integration, but if your device does, do consider it.
