New Windows 10 Redstone build for PC delayed

Microsoft's Vice President of WDG Engineering Systems, Gabe Aul had tweeted earlier that a new PC Preview build is looking "pretty good" for the release this week. Aul tweeted later on saying that due to a last-minute problem, the build won't be released before next week.

Insiders enthusiastically follow Gabe Aul on Twitter for latest updates on upcoming Preview builds hitting the Fast ring. His tweet got everyone excited about the release of another Preview build following a feature-packed Windows 10 Insider Preview 14316 which was released last week. We can't hold the company accountable as no one would want to test a buggy build. Of course, the Preview builds always bring their own set of issues, but Microsoft often delays the releases when the internal testing teams come across any major bugs.

The good news - Windows 10 Mobile 14322 coming this week

While Gabe Aul made Windows 10 PC Insiders a little upset with the news, Windows 10 Mobile Insiders will be pleased to learn that a Preview build is finally being released for them. Microsoft couldn't roll out Windows 10 Mobile Preview build 14316 when it released the same build to PC users due to a cellular data bug. Trying to appease the users, the company will now release an even bigger Insider Preview for those on the Windows 10 Mobile Insider Fast ring.

Yes, going up from 14316, those on Windows 10 Mobile Fast Ring will receive Preview build 14322. However, there is again no confirmation as the internal testing teams could encounter any last minute issues, holding the Mobile build until next week too. Let's hope that doesn't happen though, as Windows 10 Mobile Insiders have long been waiting to try all the new features and improvements that Microsoft talked about at this year's Build Conference.

Here are some of the major features that Windows 10 Redstone Preview build 14316 brought to the PC users.

  • Native Bash on Ubuntu on Windows
  • Cortana cross-device features, including low battery notifications, find my phone, and others.
  • Ability to share Map directions across all the devices.
  • Edge Extensions for News and Updates
  • Skype UWP Preview app
  • Action Center improvements, including the ability to mark app notifications (Normal, High, or Priority) that are more important to a user
  • Updated emoji, with support for skin tone modification
  • Dark Mode - ability to "universally toggle between dark and light modes via Settings > Personalization > Colors."
