While Galaxy S7, S7 edge, A9 and A9 Pro targeted the high-end smartphone market, Samsung’s Galaxy C lineup with target the mid-ranged consumer market in order to vastly increase its market share even further.

One Galaxy C Phone Will Feature A Snapdragon 617 SoC, According To Latest Screenshot

According to a source, one Galaxy C model has been listed as SM-C5000, and the specifications for a decent mid-ranged handset are quite impressive to say the least. For starters, you have a Snapdragon 617 SoC, with 8 Cortex-A53 cores running at a speed of 1.5GHz. That is a decent amount of performance from a chipset present inside a mid-ranged phone.

One particular improvement from Samsung’s mid-ranged offerings is the inclusion of 4GB RAM, which you can clearly see in the screenshot. With memory getting cheaper, manufacturers from both the memory and smartphone side of things are providing solutions to each other and the public, which is the reason why you see devices with low-end specifications sporting between 3-4GB of RAM.

However, despite the amount of RAM present in a Samsung device, the company’s UI has always been criticized for being too hard on the system resources. Has the South Korean giant improved thoroughly on the software part? Absolutely, but the company’s efforts in improving its software will take much work. We will say that TouchWiz has significantly improved over the years, but there is still room for improvement.

In fact, not too long ago, we reported that Google has been reported to lend Samsung a helping hand in order to improve its TouchWiz UI. One reason why Google is lending out a helping hand to Samsung is because the latter is the largest Android smartphone manufacturer in the world right now and the plummeting of its sales will also mean that the advertising giant will be unable to earn sufficient revenue from licensing its software to the Galaxy handset manufacturer.

One other thing that Samsung needs to watch out for is the pricing strategy of the company’s Galaxy C series of devices. Galaxy C devices are slated to be announced in May in China, but currently, there is no word on when the phones are going to be available worldwide. With the influx of Chinese phones rapidly flooding the market, consumers will obviously go for that handset that provides the best ‘bang for their buck’, and if Samsung wants to continue its winning streak, then a robust pricing strategy will be extremely important.
