MacBook Lineup Gets Refreshed With More Colors And Battery Life

Finally, a MacBook refresh is here, sporting new Intel processors and more colors to choose from. Apple also managed to provide a nice little something for consumers today, which you will find out shortly.

Apple Has Made 8GB RAM The Standard For All Of Its MacBook lineup, Including This One

A Type-C USB port is still a part of the configuration, and before you ask, there are no additional ports present on the MacBook lineup apart from the 3.5mm headphone jack. However, Type-C has several advantages and according to the details listed on Apple’s website, this particular port provides support for the following:

  • USB 3.1 Gen 1 (up to 5 Gbps, although the maximum achievable speed is 10Gbps)
  • Native DisplayPort 1.2 video output
  • VGA output using USB-C VGA Multiport Adapter (sold separately)
  • HDMI video output using USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter (sold separately)

The 12-inch MacBook will sport the following processors. Their base clock speed, Turbo Boost speed and highest configuration model have been detailed below:

  • Intel Core m3: Dual-core running at 1.1GHz, up to 2.2GHz
  • Intel Core m5: Dual-core running at 1.2GHz, up to 2.7GHz

Both models can be upgrade to a Skylake Core m7 processor, which is also a dual-core chip and features a Turbo Boost speed of 3.1GHz. The 8GB of RAM will be running at DDR3 speeds, but Apple has made sure that the default clock speed starts from 1866MHz and the storage models will start from 256GB of PCIe flash storage and go all the way up to 512GB.
