While we initially thought that the Apple Watch successor was going to be unveiled alongside iPhone 7, the latest specifications leak show that the wearable will be coming next year, but your patience is going to reward you greatly if you ever intended on purchasing it.
Apple Watch Successor Could Be Incorporated With MicroLEDs To Help Conserve Battery Life As Much As Possible
According to Digitimes, we have received report that the Apple Watch successor is going to be incorporated with a new technology called MicroLED display. Apple has been reported time and time again of transitioning from the traditional LCD display to OLED for its obvious advantages such as better efficiency.
Additionally, Apple is most likely going to partner with the likes of Samsung and LG to mass produce the company’s OLED screens in order to enter a better negotiation deal for acquiring an abounding number of OLED displays. Now, it appears that a variant of this particular display technology is going to be ported to the Apple Watch successor.
One of the biggest gripes of owning an Apple Watch was its battery life and minuscule amount of storage, and as its successor is going to be rolled out, we expect that future software updates, a larger cell, and more storage will obviously contribute to a better experience. We expect that Force Touch is going to be retained, along with the form factor of the wearable, which is currently available in the 38mm and 42mm versions.
There is also a chance that Apple Watch 2 could feature a cellular modem but we are going to remove this from the rumor equation because it would mean that majority of the consumers would see no reason to purchase an iPhone, irrespective of the larger screen size that you get in return. For the time being, Apple has probably intended its Apple Watch 2 to be an extension of your iPhone so a cellular feature is definitely out of the cards.
In order to add more appeal to the wearable, Apple has also been reported to partner with companies like Hermes to bring custom watch bands in the foreseeable future. While we currently do not know the full extent of how efficient these MicroLEDs are going to be, we can all agree that it will still be a worthy upgrade over LCD displays.
