When we reported that when OnePlus X had been quietly discontinued, lots of consumers wanting to get their hands on the affordable Android handset would have been livid over the untimely news of the $199 smartphone. However, an announcement has been made suggesting that the device is still in stock, but it won’t be for long.
OnePlus X Champagne Model Is Sold Out, But Two Color Models Are Still Up For Grabs
OnePlus has given the following statement regarding the availability of its OnePlus X smartphone:
“We will have limited stock of the OnePlus X Ceramic and Onyx available over the next few months. The OnePlus X Champagne has already sold out and will not be replenished. Stay tuned to our forums for updates, and rest assured that we will continue supporting the OnePlus X as we do all of our other phones.”
As for the hardware specifications, OnePlus X was the first smartphone introduced by the company to feature an AMOLED display. The smartphone is also powered by a Snapdragon 801 SoC and features a very affordable price of $199.
Despite featuring just 16GB of on-board memory, the smartphone features a SIM card tray where you can either choose to place a single SIM card and a storage card, or two SIM cards with a nanoSIM form factor. One reason why the company does not want to focus on a OnePlus X successor at this current time is because otherwise, they will deviate from focusing on its flagship offering, OnePlus 3.
OnePlus intends on merging its OxygenOS and HydrogenOS into a custom UI, with an announcement that is going to place later this year. The company naturally cannot be distracted from providing consumers with the best possible experience concerning their OnePlus 3, so hard choices had to be made in the process.
It appears that 2016 is not going to be the year for the OnePlus X successor, but the CEO didn’t provide us with any additional details regarding next year. After all, there are consumers who do not have the financial freedom to spend $399 on a OnePlus 3, so there is a broader market for the company to tackle effectively.
