The old video games console cycle is about to come to an end with the introduction of the PlayStation 4 Neo and the Microsoft Project Scorpio. Not all players are excited for these upgraded consoles due to a variety of reasons, but more and more developers are expressing their positive thoughts on them, like Epic Game's CEO Tim Sweeney recently did.

In a new interview with Eurogamer, Tim Sweeney praised the idea of upgraded console, saying that he is absolutely thrilled about the PlayStation 4 Neo and Project Scorpio. He also added that the upgraded hardware represents the best of both worlds, with configurations being very reasonable for developers, something that will help maintain balance.

Tim Sweeney also added that the fact that everything won't begin from zero every few years is another sound advantage, especially for teams developing online games that are getting maintained over the years.

From an industry insider perspective, the console industry will grow and sustain its user base much better if it doesn’t have to reset its user base to zero every seven years. The idea of throwing everything out and doing everything from scratch every seven years is completely crazy. And everything Epic’s done with our new game development approach, involving these online games we’re going to maintain over time, it’s about building games where we don’t have to reset our user base to zero when we want to add new features.

Project Scorpio has been revealed during Microsoft's E3 2016 conference, but there's still a lot we don't know about the new console. The PlayStation 4 Neo, on the other hand, hasn't been revealed officially, even though Sony did acknowledge its existence some time before the E3 2016. We will keep you updated on both of them as soon as possible, so stay tuned for all the latest news.
