Redmi Note 4 Has A Completely Different Name – Could Come With An SoC More Powerful Than Helio X20

Redmi Note 4 is going to be announced soon, and it turns out that the device is not only going to feature a new name, but will be packing a SoC with more punch than MediaTek’s Helio X20. Can you guess which chipset could potentially be powering a Redmi Note 4?

Redmi Note 4 Will Be Called Redmi Pro – Could Be Packing A Helio X25 Instead Of A Helio X20

The name Redmi Pro sounds more convincing than a Redmi Note 4 and Xiaomi is definitely going to raise with the bar when it officially announces this smartphone. Since the handset belongs to the Note series of phones, it is going to feature a phablet form factor. A screen size of 5.5 inches has been listed, and we assume that the resolution is going to be retained at 1080p to allow for additional talk-time to the user. The biggest change is going to come from the hardware and we honestly never expected a Helio X25 to be part of the internals.

For those that don’t know, MediaTek Helio X25 is a slightly more powerful variant of Helio X20. Both chipsets feature Cortex-A72 and Cortex-A53 cores that are paired together in ARM’s big.LITTLE architecture and will feature the following processing cores and clock speed differences.

Redmi Note 4 (1)

Helio X20 (MT6797)

  • Two Cortex-A72 cores running at 2.1-2.3GHz
  • Four Cortex-A53 cores running at 1.85GHz
  • Four Cortex-A53 cores running at 1.4GHz
  • ARM Mali-T880 running at 780MHz

Helio X25 (MT6797T)

  • Two Cortex-A72 cores running at 2.5GHz
  • Four Cortex-A53 cores running at 2.0GHz
  • Four Cortex-A53 cores running at 1.55GHz
  • ARM Mali-T880 running at 850MHz

While a Helio X25 is going to be present, the leak from Twitter also suggests that 4GB of RAM is going to be a part of the hardware. While this is more impressive, we suspect that a Snapdragon 652 could be present in the international variant of the device. This is probably not going to be the only dual-camera smartphone from Xiaomi, since there are rumors that both Mi Note 2 and Mi5s will come stacked with the same upgrade, but it could be the most affordable dual-camera smartphone that you guys could ever come across.
