Apple has officially announced that the company has sold a billion iPhones to date. The announcement was made at an employee meeting.

Apple Has Sold 1 Billion iPhones - Time Surely Flies

Ever since Steve Jobs announced the first ever iPhone back in 2007, it really did change the smartphone industry forever. And with time, the iPhone saw massive improvements in terms of features and upgrades. Fast forward to present day and it's quite evident Apple's smartphone 'formula' has indeed worked out well for the company. Though sales have slipped slowed down globally, as recent numbers revealed by Apple itself show. But that hasn't stopped the company from hitting the major 1 billion iPhones sold milestone this morning, as announced by Tim Cook at an employee meeting.

Cupertino, California July 27, 2016At an employee meeting in Cupertino this morning, CEO Tim Cook announced that Apple recently sold the billionth iPhone.

"iPhone has become one of the most important, world-changing and successful products in history. It's become more than a constant companion. iPhone is truly an essential part of our daily life and enables much of what we do throughout the day," said Cook. “Last week we passed another major milestone when we sold the billionth iPhone. We never set out to make the most, but we’ve always set out to make the best products that make a difference. Thank you to everyone at Apple for helping change the world every day."

Wrap Up

This is a mighty big achievement for Apple. And since the 1 billionth iPhone sold target has been crushed by the company, we're certain the executives are now aiming for the 2 billionth hallmark. Will Apple be able to achieve it in the same amount of time it did today since 2007? Or will things slow down or speed up? That completely depends on the direction the company takes on from here on in. The next iPhone has a lot riding on it as it can either make or break the iPhone gravy train in a lot of ways.

We're sure Apple has a secret weapon hiding under its sleeve which it'll unleash at the right time. Right now, however, all we can do is speculate how the company would do in the years to come.
