At Gamescom 2016, Capcom has released a set of brand-new Resident Evil 7: Biohazard screenshots alongside a new trailer.

The trailer takes a deeper look at the horror players will encounter, and players are introduced to Marguerite Baker and another mysterious female character.

Set within the sinister plantation house in Dulvey, Louisiana, the Baker family, including Jack and Marguerite, were residents but no-one has seen or heard from them in a while. Where could they be? One thing is clear in the latest content to be shown from the game – there’s something not quite right within the plantation. Who is the mysterious girl in the gameplay? What does Marguerite want with her?

From the official PS US Blog:

While Beginning Hour acts as a setup for the main game, this time you’ll see a found footage videotape segment that will appear in the final game. (Your eyes aren’t playing tricks on you, the videotape graphical effects are distinct to these segments and aren’t representative of the rest of the game.)

If you played Beginning Hour, you encountered one of these found footage type segments where you were introduced to the “Sewer Gators” film crew and witnessed their grisly fate. This time, you’ll get a sneak peek at content from a tape labelled “Mia,” and you’ll get to see some other areas of the house that you saw in Beginning Hour and characters within — including Marguerite.

The game was officially announced during this year's E3, and takes place after the dramatic events of Resident Evil 6.

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard is slated for a release on January 24 for Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Consumers visiting Gamescom this week can visit the Sony booth located within Hall 7, B-010 to step inside the  Resident Evil 7 biohazard  plantation and experience the Beginning Hour demo first debuted at E3 in the Playstation VR mode.
