Nvidia announced yesterday that its co-founder and CEO Jen-Hsun Huang will be headlining next years CES in January to make several special announcements. The Consumer Electronics Show is one of the biggest in the world and this will be the very first time that Nvidia will give the keynote address at the show. Rumors have been floating around that this is when the unveiling of the highly anticipated GTX 1080 Ti graphics card will take place.
Nvidia To Take Center Stage At CES 2017 In January
The company is teasing major announcements regarding new gaming & virtual reality products as well as developments in AI & self-driving cars. Huang never takes the stage without revealing a brand new chip from the company. So expect anything from brand new gaming GeForce graphics cards to new tesla accelerators and mini supercomputers.
When Huang takes the stage, you can be sure he’ll break news in some of the areas we’re focused on: artificial intelligence, self-driving cars, virtual reality, and gaming.
CES 2017 Will Be Quite The Show
This won't be the company's first presence at the show but it will indeed be the first time Nvidia will be presenting the show's keynote. Last year CEO Jen-Hsun Huang showcased the Drive PX 2 accelerator for self-driving cars. Over the past couple of years the company introduced its Tegra K1 mobile SOC and SHIELD hand-held gaming device at the show. Every year it was something different so we can only guess what Nvidia has in store for us at next year's CES.
A Taste Of The GTX 1080 Ti & Volta
A sneak peak at the company's upcoming Volta graphics cards? a new Shield device? new Tegra SOC? A combination of the aforementioned or something entirely different? The show is still three months off and one thing's for certain is that the company will be dropping hints directly or indirectly along the way.
Nvidia's rival AMD will also be at next year's CES. The company will be showcasing its upcoming high-end Zen "Summit Ridge" CPUs at the show floor. Along with next generation AM4 motherboards powered by the enthusiast "X370" chipset. The company showcased its 14nm RX 400 series "Polaris" graphics cards at this year's CES back in January.
The Radeon Technologies Group has also been teasing their next generation high-end Vega graphics cards and their launch venue over the past couple of months. Vega graphics cards are expected to come out in the first half of 2017. Considering that Polaris made its debut at CES and launched in the middle of the year, there's very little doubt that Vega will follow suit and take center stage at next year's CES.
Computex has traditionally been the show for PC hardware enthusiasts while CES has been more about TV screens, gadgets and intelligent light bulbs...you get the picture. A splash of PC hardware announcements here and there is what kept it interesting for most of us. So when we hear about new graphics chips and CPUs headlining next year's CES you rest assured that we'll be paying close attention. Color us excited!
