Galaxy S8 two variants possibly in February

Samsung should have a lot of faith riding on its upcoming Galaxy S8, and according to Chinese sources close to the matter, it’s heavily rumored that the upcoming flagship is going to be arriving in two models with varied hardware details.

Phablet Variant of Galaxy S8 Has Been Rumored to Come With a 4K Super AMOLED Display

According to Chinese sources, there are going to be two Galaxy S8 variants, and both of them are going to feature varied screen sizes and resolutions. It’s been rumored that the 5.1-inch variant is going to be feature the same 1440p QHD Super AMOLED display that has been used on the company’s previous generation lineup of handsets. Samsung undoubtedly makes the best smartphone displays, so there is no denying that the display is going to look equally crisp on this device, maybe even better.

As for the phablet variant, which has been rumored to feature a 5.5-inch screen size, is going to sport a 4K Super AMOLED display. If the rumor turns out to be true, then Samsung is going to have to take advantage of the larger form factor by incorporating a larger battery capacity, much like it did with its Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge. It is possible that the 4K display will only get triggered in necessary situations, such as rendering 4K content.

This is also known as ‘Adaptive Display’ technology, and first appeared on Sony’s Xperia Z5 Premium. This helps to conserve battery by a long margin. It is also possible that Galaxy S8 will also provide an upgrade in its Grace UX by manually reducing the resolution, and to give your memory a slight jolt, this option was also present in the company’s now abandoned Galaxy Note 7.

Not too long ago, Samsung recently confirmed the acquisition of Viv Labs, which had originally worked on Siri. Samsung might incorporate its own blend of voice commands, but looking at how early this development is, we’ll need to wait for more stories to come in to actually tell what sort of upgrades the Galaxy S8 is going to harbor underneath its hood.

Some have suggested that the Galaxy S8 might be launched much earlier in order to compensate for the losses incurred by Galaxy Note 7. Our previously covered report states that the smartphone could be announced as earlier as February 26, which is a single day before MWC 2017 kicks off. What other form of hardware upgrades do you think are going to be present inside both variants, assuming the rumor turns out to be true? Tell us your thoughts right away.
