In addition to announcing the Surface Book i7, Microsoft also unveiled its first ever all-in-one machine named the Surface Studio. Boasting an incredibly thin form factor, but a very crisp display, the Surface Studio also comes with impressive internals to help you get your work done efficiently.
Surface Studio Comes with a Touchscreen-Enabled Display with 63% More Pixels Than a 4K Panel
The Surface Studio features a 28-inch PixelSense Display with a hefty number of pixels. Though Microsoft’s first ever AIO falls short of the 5K display mark, its machine still features a 4.5K display, and if you were wondering, it takes the total resolution up to 4500 x 3000. It also houses its own I/O panel, as you should expect from a machine like this. Details have been listed below:

- Mini DisplayPort
- 3.5mm headset jack
- Compatible with Surface Dial onscreen interaction (this will be sold separately)
Unfortunately, the hardware is where I started to scratch my head and wonder my Microsoft didn’t go for something with more power. Sure, the base model features a quad-core Skylake i5 processor and 8GB of RAM, but with an NVIDIA GTX 980M, it does seem that the company went behind a generation. With NVIDIA’s Pascal lineup easily able to get incorporated inside notebooks and AIOs, the Surface Studio should easily have been able to accommodate one. Regardless, Microsoft would have its own reasons for coming up with this configuration.
The Surface Studio’s monitor can be turned into a tablet thanks to its Zero Gravity Hinge, with this feature, you can move the AIO up or down according to your liking and even use the Surface Pen on its touch-enabled surface. The company’s Surface Dial is another touch-sensitive tool that you can use with your Surface Pen to get an even deeper experience with the powerful machine, but all of these tools are going to be sold separately.
