Intel To Launch Kaby Lake Desktop Platform on 5th January at CES 2017

For those wondering when Kaby Lake processors will be available in the market, GDM.OR.JP has confirmed that Intel will be launching them on 5th of January 2017. The site confirms that 200-series motherboards will be available for purchase on the same day.

Intel Kaby Lake processors in general would be getting increased core performance (expect the usual 5-10% improvement) unless Intel plans to do something very different with Kaby Lake which seems highly unlikely. On their Kaby Lake U and Y series launch, Intel mentioned that Kaby Lake has same IPC as Skylake but offer increased clock speeds and efficiency.

The processors will retain the basic features such for enthusiasts such as enhanced full range BCLK overclocking and 95W “Unlocked” options to choose from.

The Intel 200-Series PCH is a crucial update for the upcoming family of processors as it will allow support for them. The Intel 200-series PCH will include several SKUs such as Z270, H270, Q270, Q250 and B250. The new PCH will offer support for Intel Optane technology. The new tech utilizes Intel’s 3D XPoint memory to deliver high-performance SSDs and memory solutions. Kaby Lake will be available in the market around the same time when AMD will be launching their Zen processors for desktop users.
