Alcatel introduced its Idol 4S not too long ago, but the two primary differences with this one is that the previous one was running Android and didn’t feature upgraded specifications. Now, the latest iteration sports upgraded hardware specifications, making it sufficient enough to stand toe-to-toe with the likes of HP Elite x3.

The 5.5-Inch Alcatel Idol 4S Features a Sub-$500 Price Tag and Provides Support for Continuum and VR

Alcatel is every bit as powerful as its other smartphone rivals thanks to the Snapdragon 820 and 4GB of RAM present in its housing. The smartphone itself features a screen size of 5.5 inches and gives off a 1080p resolution. This will help to conserve battery life, especially in situations where there is no power source available. There is also 64GB of onboard storage coupled with a MicroSD card slot. A rear-facing 21MP camera is also present and the significant camera bump means that the smartphone’s battery capacity stands in at 3,000mAh. The front-facing camera is an 8MP shooter.

While the specifications are truly high-end for a phone that’s running Windows 10 Mobile, here are the highlights of the phone. First off, it costs $470, which is very unusual for a Windows 10 Mobile powered device with high-end specs. Secondly, VR fans will be pleased to know that the smartphone will be sold with a low-cost VR headset similar to that of Samsung’s Gear VR. Microsoft doesn't offer up any plans for Windows Holographic support, so it sounds like the experience will be limited to some 3D games and 360-degree videos.

In addition to VR, Idol 4S will also support Windows Hello and Continuum. The fingerprint reader located at the back of the smartphone will unlock the device with Windows Hello, and you'll be able to connect a monitor, keyboard, and mouse to enable Continuum and use the phone like a PC. The Idol 4S will be available at T-Mobile in the US for $469.99, and you can purchase it starting from November 10th.
