Dishonored 2 game director Harvey Smith, has once again taken to Twitter to talk about the game’s performance issues on PC.
Arkane’s Dishonored sequel was released last week, and while the game is an absolute blast, the PC version suffers from quite some performance issues. On Twitter, Smith expressed to be distressed about the game’s pc performance, and both Arkane and Bethesda have reassured fans that an update is inbound.
"We have been monitoring the PC forums and social channels and while we’re excited to hear that many of you are enjoying the game, we are disheartened that some of you are experiencing PC performance issues on some systems”, reads the post on the official Bethesda site.
While Smith has been quite vocal on Twitter regarding the performance issues, some of this tweets seem to have been misread by the community, stating that the game would require a GTX 1070 at minimum to run in 1080p@60FPS on very low settings. Clearly this is not what Smith meant, and his Tweet was deleted.
"That rig on very low and 1080 should run around 60fps" the game director Tweeted initially when asked about performance on a certain setup.
In a more recent set of Tweets, the game director has once again confirmed that an update is inbound, although there is no ETA yet. According to Smith, the performance issues due to bad optimization are totally “on” Arkane, and no one is more “frustrated” that some players and configurations are having problems.

Although Arkane and Bethesda are working hard to fix the apparent issues, Smith points out that players will “always” need quite a high-end setup to run the game on Ultra settings.

A lot of developers could take note on how Arkane and Smith have been acknowledging the Dishonored 2 PC issues. Let’s hope that an update gets released soon. We’ll update when we learn more.
