The iPhone 8 Will Feature Dual OIS And Upgrade Its Telephoto Lens

We've got only a handful of days until 2016 comes to an end. It's been an interesting year when we talk all things smartphone. The highlight has been Samsung's Galaxy Note 7, as the device goes down in history in flames. Featuring an Iris scanner and top tier specifications, Samsung's phablet was expected to take a serious shot at Apple's iPhone lineup. Malfunctioning batteries resulted in an early death for the lineup and attention soon shifted towards the Galaxy S8. The iPhone 8 hasn't been shy to appear in the rumor mill either. We've been hearing quite a lot of rumors for it. Now, KGI's Ming Chi Kuo is ready to disclose some more alleged details for the device. Take a look below to find out more.

The iPhone 8 With Dual Cameras To Feature Upgrade OIS And Telephoto Lens

Apple's known to pay strong attention to photography for its smartphones. The company always manages to do more with less. While the iPhone lineup's not known for its high megapixel count, other, subtle upgrades end up matching and often beating competitor specifications. The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus came with a couple of interesting upgrades as well.

Not only did the larger device make the much rumored jump to a dual camera, we also saw a custom ISP make it on board. A first in the iPhone's history, the claims some remarkable capabilities for it. As you likely know, one of the lenses on the iPhone 7 Plus' dual camera is telephoto. Now, Ming Chi Kuo reports that the iPhone 8 will further improve things for this lens, adding Optical Image Stabilization to the mix as well.

To achieve this, Kuo believes Apple will make several changes to the telephoto lens. The company will have to increase the lens' circle size. The addition of OIS will also result in an increase in the optical zoom range for the iPhone. It'll also lead to a longer manufacturing time and calibration for Apple, but the end results of a much improved sensor should be worth it.

To recap, Ming Kuo's been very active for the iPhone 8 recently. He claims that Apple will launch three device next year, on the 10th anniversary of its vastly popular smartphone lineup. The trio will be differentiated on the basis of screen size and camera sensors. It's been a slow couple of years on the iPhone, when take a look from a design perspective. Apple's build and color upgrades this year are sufficient only to last a calendar year.There's a lot of time till the device's launch, so more details will surface.
