When we talked about the ideal Galaxy Note 7 phablet alternatives that you would be interested in taking a look at, turns out that Meizu’s PRO 6 Plus can also be added to that list. That’s because the flagship from the Chinese manufacturer sports several hardware additions and features from various high-end devices and what’s more is that it costs less for the general public.
Meizu PRO 6 Plus Supports Global LTE bands and Features Hardware Taken From Samsung
Starting off, Meizu PRO 6 Plus is rocking a 5.7-inch QHD display, showing that the manufacturer has gravitated to the higher end of the smartphone chain with a crisp resolution. Though the smartphone does not ship out with a curved edge display or a stylus for that matter, it does feature Samsung’s own Exynos 8890 coupled with a Mali-T880MP12 GPU. It will be available in the gray, silver or champagne color models and what is interesting to note here is that it also comes with Apple’s 3D Touch technology.
Meizu is referring it as its 3D Press technology, but we all know that it will function in the same fashion as Apple’s own tech present in the iPhone 6s and iPhone 7 family. Thanks to its larger screen, the PRO 6 Plus features a decent 3,400mAh battery and a Type-C USB port. Meizu claims that the smartphone’s battery capacity can be charged up to 60 percent in just 30 minutes, but we’re assuming that can only happen with the native charger and cable bundled with the device.
There is also a rear-facing 12MP shooter, and it is a Sony IMX386 sensor. We’re not sure how well it will perform against the likes of Galaxy S7 and iPhone 7, but we’ll be excited to see some comparison results and show you guys in the future. Unfortunately, PRO 6 Plus is only running Android Marshmallow, and the company has not voiced the matter of upgrading it to Android Nougat. One of the key selling points of the phablet will be its global LTE support, meaning that it will join the ranks of Xiaomi’s Mi Note 2.
It comes with 4GB of RAM and is available in the 64 and 128GB internal storage solutions, with a starting price tag of CNY 3,000, or $435. Supporting global LTE bands means that the device could have a global launch, but due to customs rules and regulations of other countries, you might end up paying more than the proposed $435 retail price.
