iOS 10.2 lets you preserve your settings in Camera app so you can pick up right where you left off. Here's how you can use it.

You are out taking photos and recording videos. And every time you are done with a snap or clip, you lock your iPhone. But everytime you wake it and launch the Camera app again, you have to go through a little nuisance. That nuisance is the Camera app defaulting itself back to the 'Photo' mode, forcing you to scramble to the last used mode, may that be Video, Pano, Time-lapse, Square etc. But thanks to iOS 10.2, the Camera app can retain your last used mode, allowing you to pick up right where you left off.

Tutorial
1. Launch the Settings app.
2. Scroll down and tap on Photos & Camera.
3. Now tap Preserve Settings.
4. There are three toggles here outlining which does what. Turn on the toggles as necessary and then close the Settings app.
5. Now launch the Camera app and switch to Video mode. Close the app and then launch Camera app again. You're back in Video. How cool is that?
This feature might not mean much to certain users, but those who are constantly jumping in or out of the Camera app will find it to be a godsend. There are moments when you are recording one video after the other and it gets annoying to see how the Camera app defaults back to the Photo mode every single time you re-launch it. Hopefully, with this new features in iOS 10.2, those days of annoyance will be long gone. And if, for some reason, you don't feel like using the new Preserve Settings feature, you can always turn it off and go back to how things were.
It's a new feature and it will take some time getting used to. Just give it a good few days, and only then you'll come to realize how important this is.
