Best Buy is now running a truly great offer for Gears of War 4. The game, developed by The Coalition, can be purchased digitally for $29.99; you'll need a Best Buy account and a US VPN, but those are both quick and painless endeavors to go through for the lowest price we've seen yet for Gears of War 4.
This is an Xbox Play Anywhere game, so the code will work on both Xbox One and Windows 10 PC. Gears of War 4 also features crossplay in many game modes with the exception of public competitive multiplayer, and the developers are testing that opportunity as well.
The new chapter in the franchise established by Epic Games released this October to strongly positive critical reception. In our review, Rosh Kelly rated the game 9/10 while commenting:
Gears of War 4 came at an interesting time for Xbox, with the sales of the console already improving. While the series seemed to be on a decline with Gears of War: Judgement, Gears of War 4 might just be what it takes to come into its own once and for all. Gears of War 4 is a title I can see lasting a long time, an example of the power of the Xbox One and PC and a great game overall.
The game runs extremely well on both platforms. While the PC version can run the game (provided that you have the right hardware) at native 4K and 60FPS thanks to the great optimization we’ve covered earlier, the Xbox One S version sports a great implementation of HDR technology, though you’ll need a proper HDR display to check out how good that looks.
With an interesting, albeit familiar narrative, great gameplay and some really brutal battles, Gears of War 4 offers exactly what fans of the series have been yearning for: hours upon hours of great, weighty combat.
