The Samsung Galaxy S8 has become one the most hyped smartphones of the upcoming year. Compared to its predecessors, the device the device will feature a lot of new features. We've been hearing about an upgraded design, an iris scanner, removal of the earphone jack and more importantly, an edge to edge display. Out of these features, it's the removal of the home button for the device which has garnered the most attention. The Samsung Galaxy S8 is rumored to be complete button free on its front facade. Talking smartphones, 2017 will be year that introduces dramatic changes. We've seen a lot of leaks and rumors take place suggesting this fact. For starters, 10nm will make it on smartphones next year, resulting in dramatic performance and power efficiency enhancement. The 3.5 mm earphone jack is also set to become a feature of the past. Now, with the Galaxy S8, the home button's removal will also contribute towards a major change in device aesthetics.

Smartphones, particularly the Galaxy S lineup have always had a home button. It's one of those features that has become a necessity on a otherwise button free interface. Now, manufacturers appear confident enough to remove this impediment to a purely touch based interface as well. Both the iPhone 8 and the Galaxy S8 have seen rumors that claim a button free screen. For the Galaxy S8, yet another source out of China claims that the device will be 'bigger than ever'.

Industry watcher King Kevin has made similar claims on the Chinese Weibo today. According to him, the Galaxy S8 will be 'bigger than the biggest'. He's referring to the device's screen proportion in the post, which really will surpass previous versions should Samsung remove the home button. A fully virtual home button for the Galaxy S8 will make for a nice upgrade next year. It will take users some time to get accustomed to, especially when unlocking their devices.

After all, a virtual home button will be accompanied by a fingerprint sensor that is embedded in the Galaxy S8's screen. It'll be one of the final steps to remove a physical experience in device interaction. Users will however need time to intuitively locate the sensor without any physical stimulus.
