GTAV Sold Over 6 Million Physical Units in the UK Alone

Grand Theft Auto V, GTAV for short, recently passed an impressive milestone. According to GFK Chart-Track, GTAV sold over six million copies in the United Kingdom alone. That's an impressive feat when you consider that it translates in roughly one unit sold every ten UK citizens, given that the UK's population is currently estimated to be around 65 million.

However, the figure is even more staggering because GFK Chart-Track does not consider digital sales, meaning that the actual sales could be much higher. Even so, GTAV already has a gap of more than 2 million sales over the second best-selling game in the UK and GFK Chart-Track adds that the title was able to stay in the Top 10 chart for 130 of the 170 weeks since the original release back in 2013.

While GTAV didn't receive any single player DLC yet (at this point, it likely never will), GTA Online proved a huge success for Rockstar Games and it still receives constant updates. The last one, the Import/Export DLC, went live last week. Of course, the next big thing from Rockstar is Red Dead Redemption 2, tentatively scheduled to hit PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in Fall 2017. Macquarie Securities analyst Ben Schachter recently expressed his belief that a PC port could be out as early as Q1 2018, but that's just speculation at this point.

GTAV secured the fifth spot in last week's Top 10 sales chart, with Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare at the top.

  1. Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare
  2. FIFA 17
  3. Battlefield 1
  4. Watch Dogs 2
  5. Grand Theft Auto V
  6. Final Fantasy XV
  7. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition
  8. Dishonored 2
  9. Steep
  10. Mafia III
