The recent announcement came that Microsoft was removing Lumia phone from its US store. This would give rise to further questions that whether or not the Lumia brand is finished or not and if the company is preparing another product for its dwindling smartphone business. Now that the Lumia brand is no more, what product can we expect from the company?
Removal of the Lumia Brand Can Only Mean That Microsoft Is Preparing to Introduce Its Surface Phone
The models that have been removed from the US store are listed as follows:

- AT&T - Microsoft Lumia 640 XL
- AT&T - Microsoft Lumia 950
- Microsoft Lumia 550 - Unlocked
- Microsoft Lumia 650 Dual SIM - Unlocked
- Microsoft Lumia 950 - Unlocked
- Microsoft Lumia 950 XL - Unlocked
- Verizon - Microsoft Lumia 735
Microsoft has not stated when it is going to re-stock the aforementioned units, but it is quite unlikely seeing as how the company has been rumored several times to be bringing in its Surface Phone. The software giant has also announced that it is going to be making an appearance at the MWC 2017 trade show, but readers should not get excited because the announcement of the Surface Phone is probably going to take place later in 2017. The company already announced that it is going to be bringing native desktop apps support for ARM processors later in the year, with a demo of a Snapdragon 820 shown that it is capable of running the desktop variant of Photoshop.
Unfortunately, as fate would have it, while the Snapdragon 820 is capable of running desktop apps, Microsoft is probably not going to bring support for. The minimum hardware requirements for running desktop apps is a Snapdragon 835, which is said to be detailed during the CES 2017 trade show.
