Windows Phone 7 to not feature tethering

Abdullah Saad

Director of Windows Phone 7 Brandon Watson had earlier, in an podcast interview with TWiT, indicated that Microsoft’s new mobile operating system would feature the ability to tether but that it would be up to the carriers to allow it.

As it turns out, a spokesperson from Microsoft, today contacted the folks at BGR, making it clear to them that Mr. Watson was not entirely right in his assertion and that the official statement from Microsoft is: “Windows phone 7 does not support tethering.” While the statement does not leave much to one's imagination, I'd still reckon that Microsoft does not really plan on to shoot itself in the foot by keeping such a basic functionality set out of its premier mobile operating system. IMO, it just might be playing cool for its partner carriers, until the big day arrives.
