The Nintendo Switch is Nintendo’s fastest-selling platform to date according to Nintendo America president, Reggie Fils-Aime.

As reported by The New York Times reporter, Nick Wingfield, Nintendo’s new platform apparently broke the company’s record for fastest-selling console within the first two days after release. The Switch was released last Friday and managed to outsell the Nintendo Wii in the US, the company’s most successful console to date,

Although it appears that Nintendo’s new platform sales quite well,  no actual sales numbers have been provided for the US. As reported some days ago, Nintendo managed to sell 80.000 Switch units in the UK within its first few days.

Wingfield also released some other interesting tidbits from the interview with Fils-Aime. We’ve included those Tweets down below as well.

The new Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild beat Super Mario 64 as best-selling standalone launch title in Nintendo history. This doesn’t include Wii Sports, which was bundled with the Wii.

According to Fils-Aime, a long-term sales comparison with the Wii is hard, but the Switch is off to a good start.

The Nintendo Switch is available worldwide now alongside The Legend of Zelda and 1-2-Switch.
