A couple of weeks back, we reported that The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild, the latest entry in the series released earlier this month on Switch and Wii U, can look great on PC thanks to the Cemu emulator and the 4K Graphics Pack. Sadly, the game cannot be completed in the current version of the Wii U emulator, but there's the chance that things might change next week.
The main developer of the Cemu emulator recently teased to those supporting the emulator's development on Patreon that the game might be 100% playable from start to finish with the 1.7.4 version, which is launching on April 2nd. While the full list of improvements for Zelda Breath of the Wild in Cemu 1.7.4 has yet to be revealed, we know that grass, water, combat, runes, and lighting will be fully functional. There are still some critical fixes to be implemented, as well as performance improvements, as noted by TheComplainingGamer in the video below.
In our Zelda Breath of the Wild review, we noted how the game is not only one of the best entries in the series, but also one of the best open world games released in recent times, setting a new bar for the genre.
Minor technical problems aside, this is one of gaming’s greatest and most storied series returning with something we’ve never seen before. Breaking all the conventions of the series, and even a few general gaming conventions, Breath of the Wild is essential for any self-respecting gamer. A new bar has been set in open world gaming.
Zelda Breath of the Wild is now available on Switch and Wii U in all regions.
