Dive into Deep Silence with watchOS 3.2's Theater Mode for Apple Watch

Although the Apple Watch is an extremely minimal device, but it can become obtrusive for others if its display is constantly lighting up from time to time. This sort of thing is extremely annoying if you are in a theater environment. So, in order to combat this situation, Apple developed a brand new feature for Apple Watch users that comes as a part of the new watchOS 3.2 update. It's called Theater Mode. Once enabled, your Apple Watch will go into complete silence, and the display can only be accessed if you either tap on it or press down on the Digital Crown. It's like airplane mode, but keeps all the wireless radios running while silencing everything else down. It's extremely wonderful, and we'll show you how you can use it.

Tutorial

As mentioned above, this feature is available for watchOS 3.2 users only. If you don't have the OS installed already, then this tutorial is not applicable for you.

1. On your Apple Watch's watch face, swipe up to reveal the quick toggles.

2. Swipe all the way down and tap on the button that looks like a mask. If you are enabling this feature for the first time, you will see a quick little rundown of it on the display. Tap on Theater Mode to enable.

3. Now, if you lift your Apple Watch, or a notification comes through, everything will remain perfectly quiet. Tap on the display or press the Digital Crown if you wish to wake the display.

Essentially, this little watchOS 3.2 addition is perfect for times when you really want to silence everything down. Whether it's a movie theater, the opera house, a restaurant, you can rest assured that this little toggle switch will save the day in a wide variety of manners.

If only such a toggle switch now makes its way to the iPhone and iPad as well. Just saying.
