According to one source, the Mountain View giant is all set to launch Google Assistant for iOS. The announcement might come at this year's Google I/O conference.

Google Assistant will be a Standalone App on iOS - Announcement Might Come this Week

While Google did eventually bring its search app to iOS along with Google Now, many outlets are wondering how the company will go about Google Assistant for iOS. According to Android PoliceGoogle's new AI-powered assistant will definitely make its way to iOS, and will be a standalone app. But the interesting thing to note here is that it will feature the same chat-style threaded layout found in the Allo app, allowing users to go through queries using text only, instead of voice. Of course, voice will be an option available to everyone who might need it.

Furthermore, the source believes that the announcement of Google Assistant for iOS will be made at Google I/O. And this move makes sense as well, given that the Assistant SDK was made available to developers a while back, hence giving the iOS version a big reveal sounds legit. Last but not the least, Google Assistant for iOS will be initially available for those who reside in the United States, with an obvious rollout to other regions in the time to come.

It's absolutely unclear at this point exactly when the dedicated Assistant app will make its way onto iOS. While Google may announce their service for iOS as early as this week, but the timeframe for actual availability is absolutely unknown at this point. If we are lucky enough, we might see the app launch as early as this Summer, if not later this year.

Details might be scarce at this point, but the source reveals that it will be back with more bits as they are revealed to them. We, on the other hand, will report back with more details as well. In the meantime, feel free to speculate what shape and form Google Assistant will take on iOS. After all, given Apple's stance on voice assistants, we know for a fact that Google's own service will live inside the confines of a sandboxed app.

Doesn't sound much exciting when put that way, right?
