Instagram has 'introduced' a new feature for its users: face filters. Yes, they work in the same manner as they do in Snapchat.

Instagram Goes After Snapchat Again by Introducing Face Filters & More

Over the passage of time, Instagram has seen mammoth growth. Most of its success can be handed to the fact that the company has been adding features at a very fast pace to keep things interesting over time. But, most of those features have been present in one particular social network already - Snapchat. Today, Instagram's photocopiers continue to expand their horizon by introducing face filters. If you have used Snapchat already, then you already know how they work. Just launch the camera by swiping right in the Instagram app, tap on the little face icon at the bottom right icon, select a filter, and let augmented reality take over things instantly. To make things even better, some filters work with multiple people as well. So make sure you pull your friend into the viewfinder for an epic selfie.

From math equations swirling around your head to furry koala ears that move and twitch, you can transform into a variety of characters that make you smile or laugh. To see our initial set of eight face filters, simply open the camera and tap the new face icon in the bottom right corner.

Apart from the new face filters, Instagram is introducing a new camera option called Rewind. As the name implies, dive into the camera by swiping right, then select Rewind from the list of available options. Record a video as you normally would and the playback will be in reverse. This is perfect for moments where a normal forward playing video just doesn't cut the mustard.

You can make videos that play in reverse with “Rewind,” a new camera format next to “Boomerang” and “Hands-Free.” Drop a microphone and watch it fly up into your hand. Capture a fountain in motion and share a rewind of the water floating back up. Experiment with some magic tricks of your own and defy the laws of physics wherever you are.

Last but not the least, Instagram is introducing a new hashtag sticker along with a new eraser tool.

You can also add more context to your story with a new hashtag sticker. Just tap the sticker icon at the top right of your screen, select and customize the hashtag, then add it to your story. As with mentions, you can also add hashtags using regular text. People watching your story will be able to tap the hashtag sticker or text to visit the hashtag page and explore related posts.

Lastly, you’ll see a new eraser brush when using drawing tools. You can erase other things you’ve drawn and play around with removing color. After you’ve taken a photo or video, select a drawing tool and tap and hold to fill the entire screen with color. Then, using the eraser brush, you can creatively reveal parts of your photo or video underneath.

The above mentioned changes are available to everyone as part of a new Instagram update for both iOS and Android users. Just head over to the respective app store and get downloading immediately.
