In less than a month at the WWDC 2017, Apple is planning to unveil its next generation operating system for iOS devices. Like most years, we will probably see more improvements and enhancements towards the iPhone rather than the iPad. Since Apple released iOS 9, we did not see much functionality added for the iPad that would take advantage of the bigger display. Moreover, there's not much added that would take advantage of all the computing power in the iPad and the iPad Pro lineup. However, this iOS 11 concept imagines something different for the iPad, adding a boatload of features that will compliment the bigger display.

iOS 11 Concept Imagines System-Wide Drag 'n' Drop Functionality, Finder App, Shelf And Much More

Federico Viticci of MacStories has created an iOS 11 concept for the iPad in the form of a video. His wishlist involves the iPad to achieve specific tasks through drag 'n' drop on a system-wide scale, Finder app, Shelf, multiple audio streams and much more. Viticci's iOS 11 wishlist overhauls the iPad interface, with features oriented towards the iPad alone that a lot of pro users have been demanding over the years.

The system-wide drag 'n' drop functionality would allow users to drag different types of content between apps. In addition to this, the concept also imagines dragging the content from one iPad split window to another. Simply using the long press gestures, users can drag images, text, links and documents.

Apart from this, an imagined "Shelf" feature goes hand in hand with the new drag 'n' drop feature. Shelf has been designed to store anything on the iPad which can be used as a reference at a later time. This feature is reminiscent of the desktop on a Mac, allowing users to store items for easy access.

Other wishlist items of iOS 11 includes an all-new Split View app picker with the search functionality with an improved layout. Moreover, the concept also includes a Mac-style Finder app that integrates with the iCloud Drive for a seamless yet consistent document finding interface.

Other features part of the iOS 11 concept includes a denser home screen with a refreshed design and bolder typography along with multiple audio streams and much more. For more details, check out the video embedded.

It's unlikely that Apple will incorporate all the features envisioned in Viticci's wishlist for iOS 11. However, there are a bunch of features that Apple should consider bringing to its OS.

This is it for now, folks. What are your thoughts on the iOS 11 concept? If Apple adds these features in iOS, do you think the iPad will have a substantial increase in sales? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
