With the event in Shanghai kicking off, Microsoft has finally introduced to the world what appears to be the successor of the Surface Pro 4, named Surface Pro. Unfortunately, from the outside, it is essentially a Surface Pro 4 that’s equipped with better internals, with Microsoft claiming that the new product is able to deliver impressive battery life.
Microsoft Claims That the Newly Announced Surface Pro Is Able to Deliver an Impressive 13.5 Hours of Battery Life
From the outside, the new Surface Pro looks like there’s nothing changed between the Surface Pro 4 and it. Disappointingly enough, you will not find a Thunderbolt 3 port or Type-C USB interface for that matter. Instead, you will find the same ports that were present in the 2015 Surface Pro 4.

- One 3.5mm headphone jack
- One Surface Connect port
As mentioned earlier, the changes are present on the inside and you will find a Kaby Lake chip as part of the specifications. According to Microsoft, users can experience 50 percent better performance as well as 50 percent better battery life on the Surface Pro as opposed to the Surface Pro 4, which is something that meticulous reviewers will be looking forward to checking out in detail.
The Core i5 model features a fanless design for a quiet computing experience while the i7 variants feature a new thermal design that delivers a silent operation, though we do not have the figures released from Microsoft pertaining to the number of decibels emanating from the machine. There are going to be several Type Cover color models to choose from and in case you’re interested in making a purchase, they have been listed below:

- Platinum
- Graphite Gold
- Cobalt Blue
Microsoft will also be including an LTE model for greater convenience which will be available this fall. Sadly, Microsoft did not reveal the pricing details for this version but it did state the regular versions of the Surface Pro will be available on June 15 and come at a starting price of $799. The Surface Pen and Type Cover will be sold separately for $99 and $129 respectively.
