Though you can say that this is a little obvious, Qualcomm has managed to make our lives easier in detailing the chipset that will be powering the OnePlus 5. Now, if the company could only provide announcement details for the smartphone, that would be great, wouldn’t it?

Qualcomm Reveals Through a Tweet That the OnePlus 5 Will Be Powered by a Snapdragon 835 – Fails to Mention the Amount of RAM or Its Official Unveiling Date

With OnePlus having no one to rely on but Qualcomm, it was pretty obvious that the OnePlus 5 would be powered by a Snapdragon 835. Now, the less obvious specifications bit is something that we’re more interested in finding out about. For example, is the company going to retain the same amount of RAM on its flagship or go miles ahead with the pairing of 8GB LPDDR4X RAM? That is definitely a question that we’ll be interested in finding out.

The other thing is the sort of materials that the OnePlus 5’s chassis will be comprised of. We have heard that the company will be sticking to the generic metal design, but other rumors have pointed out a metal and glass body, which is a great move if it happens to be true because that will mean the phone will be able to provide support for wireless charging.

A dual-camera on the smartphone is almost a certainty, judging from the leaked images of previous reports, and we feel that the device itself will be armed with 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM. When the company officially announced its OnePlus 3, it came with the aforementioned amount of RAM, but it struggled to keep up with the Galaxy S7 edge, which featured 4GB RAM, showing that it is not just hardware, but also the software that needs to be looked after.

What sort of changes are you looking forward to seeing on the OnePlus 5? Tell us your thoughts down in the comments.
