Shortage of Snapdragon 835 shipments resulted in the G6 to carry the previous-generation 14nm FinFET processed Snapdragon 821, but it looks like things are not going to remain constant with the arrival of the G7. According to the latest rumor, it looks like both Qualcomm and LG are going to be working diligently to make sure that the Snapdragon 845 will power the company’s 2018 flagship, meaning that the Korean manufacturer will have more to show when pitting its smartphone against Samsung’s flagship.

Qualcomm and LG Have Been Rumored to Start Development Work Early for the Snapdragon 845 to Become a Part of the G7

Improvements on the hardware front are most likely going to be made on the G7 first, as the latest rumor is claiming that the smartphone will be featuring a Snapdragon 845. However, this rumor also states that the SoC will be manufactured on the 7nm FinFET architecture and seeing as how difficult it was to reduce the manufacturing node from 14nm to 10nm, we have certain doubts over favorable yields of Snapdragon 845 shipments here as well.

An industry official (via The Investor) seems confident that the G7 will come running Qualcomm’s latest and greatest SoC as the individual states the following:

“The adoption of the Snapdragon 845 for LG’s next flagship phone seems inevitable, considering the emerging virtual reality and augmented reality solutions require more powerful data processing capability.”

In a previous leak, the specifications of the Snapdragon 845 detail a 10nm FinFET architecture, so we’re not quite sure what to believe right now. With the LG V30 expected to transition to OLED technology, it looks like the G7 will also follow suit and exude vibrant colors with a higher contrast ratio using this tech.

With this new alliance, LG could stand against Samsung, at least in the hardware department. For now, we want you to take this with a pinch of salt and we’ll be here to bring you more updates.
