It's a good day for Apple, as the company makes several critical announcements at WWDC. We're seeing some fresh love for computing, both desktop and portable. At the desktop end, we get highly upgraded iMacs. Not only has Apple finally, finally upgraded the basic end of the iMac, but you also get a behemoth of the computer in the form of the iMac Pro. It's got Intel Xeon folks and is Cupertino's first serious attempt to play around with hardware. However right now, it's time to talk about the MacBook Pro. Apple Updates The MacBook Pro Lineup; 2017 And 12 Inch Variants Get Intel's Kaby Lake Processors
While Apple's been really generous with the iMac, the MacBook Pro receives relatively little attention. For the iMac, significant upgrades have been announced for the basic 21.5 and 27 inch models. RAM for the pair will be supported up to 32 and 64GB respectively. The real show stopper today is the iMac Pro. The iMac Pro features Intel's Xeon processor lineup. You'll be able to choose from 8, 10 and 18 cores on the iMac Pro.
For the MacBook, we don't get that lucky. And for users who just purchased their, today's a bad day. Apple's introduced Intel's Kaby Lake processors on the MacBook Pro as well. Apart from this, there are no design upgrades, which is a good thing. After all, we don't want demonstrations from angry 2016 MacBook Pro with Touch Bar users. The MacBook Air also get a much, much needed upgrade as Apple decides to keep the notebook/tablet hybrid in its lineup. The MacBook Air will be faster than its predecessors, but we don't know much details right now.
There's a new MacBook Pro out as well, without the Touch Bar. Today's MacBook and iMac upgrades finally show that Apple's heading in the right direction. The company had neglected its computing products significantly due to the rise of the iPhone. Now, finally Apple's hardware will be able to compete at the appropriate market spectrum.
