Bixby Enhancements and Android Pay Comes to Galaxy S8 and S8+ On Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T

Samsung's latest flagships, the Galaxy S8 and S8+ are recently crowned as the best smartphones by Consumer Reports. Both the devices have been available for purchase in the US for quite some time now, but they lacked some of the major features like Android Pay and some Bixby enhancements.

For the ones who bought these devices from T-Mobile and Verizon, here is a reason to rejoice. These carriers have decided to take care of the limitation found on the phone, and have rolled out an update that brings Android Pay and Bixby enhancements onboard. The update comes with builds G950USQU1AQEF and G955USQU1AQEF on both Verizon and T-Mobile. With the addition of Android Pay, T-Mobile and Verizon Galaxy S8/S8+ users can add load their card information and use Android Pay for payments.

Android Pay app lets users add Credit, Debit, Loyalty, Gift cards on the app. They can use the facility to shop online, offline, and in apps. Galaxy S8/S8+ on T-Mobile and Verizon now have the best of both worlds (for payments app) on their phone - Samsung Pay and Android Pay.

The update on AT&T fixes issues with SD card sync and file transfers. It also brings improvements to messaging app along with the May security patch.

Bixby Tied to Single Samsung ID on Galaxy S8 and S8+

Other than Android Pay, the update brings Bixby enhancements like intelligence features such as Vision and Reminder. Users will be able to use them by tapping on the icons placed at the top right corner of their Galaxy S8/S8+ screen. Besides, Bixby will backup your Bixby experiences to a single Samsung account ID, users have to accept the new terms and conditions for it.

Notably, Verizon is rolling out additional security patch and bug fixes to the Galaxy S8/S8+ units, which fixes Samsung Notes app's crashing problem.

The update by both the carriers also takes care of the Bluetooth disconnection issue when paired with Gear S3 smartwatch. Also, the Visual Voicemail app has been updated to play the normal recording when the device is placed closer to the ear. Along with the other bug fixes, this update also brings improvements to Wi-Fi calling.
