For a price/performance smartphone, you’d expect that the OnePlus 5 would come with its fair share of compromises. While it is true that the flagship might not exhibit the same level of functionality as the Galaxy S8 or the Galaxy S8+, the latest revelation shows that in addition to featuring top-notch hardware, the OnePlus 5 is also going to be a responsive device thanks to the ultra-fast storage incorporated.
OnePlus 5 Expected to Get UFS 2.1 Storage for Maximum Performance and Peak Android Smartphone Fluidity
Most manufacturers will end up cutting corners to increase profit margins of high-end smartphones and some companies have been found out to be using eMMC-type internal storage, who’s performance does not come close to the total read/write speed results of UFS 2.0 and UFS 2.1 storage. However, it does not look like the OnePlus 5 is going to suffer the same setbacks because according to MyDrivers, things are going to be quite different.
It has been stated that the smartphone is going to be outfitted with UFS 2.1-level storage, thus making the operations of the handset buttery smooth. Remember that the applications’ response time will depend on the type of storage present in a mobile device and no matter how much RAM or the chipset is running underneath the hood, the type of storage is definitely going to be the limiting factor here.
In addition to featuring ultra-fast storage, the OnePlus 5 is also going to feature a Snapdragon 835 coupled with possibly a 6GB RAM variant and an 8GB RAM one. You should not expect the smartphone to come with expandable storage since none of the company’s previous flagships have ever been shipped with this feature, so having UFS 2.1 storage will be more than necessary here.
A dual-camera is also said to be a part of the configuration, but aside from that, it does not look like the OnePlus 5 is going to be offering the level of upgrades the Galaxy S8 has. There would be the lack of IP68 water-resistance and lack of wireless charging support. Those are not the biggest issues to worry about, so it looks like the company is pooling its resources to make sure that the OnePlus 5 becomes an attractive smartphone from a hardware front.
