Samsung's Galaxy Note 8 is creating quite the hype in the rumor mill. The phablet will be the Korean tech giant's redemption, after last year's Note7 fiasco. Samsung's Galaxy Note7 was a well received device all around. It could even beat the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. But, it didn't, due to malfunctioning batteries. This cost Samsung quite a lot in terms of revenues and reputation. With the Note 8, the company looks to move forward. Today, we've got official news for the phablet's launch. Samsung Mobile President Gao Dongzhen Confirms That The Galaxy Note 8 Will Launch Late August
Talking rumors, there are a lot floating around for the Galaxy Note 8. Not a day goes by that we don't get to see more information surface for the smartphone. This phenomenon isn't surprising either. It's been years since we had proper secrecy prior to a flagship mobile gadget launch. Now, 90-95% of a gadget's details surface before hand, leaving little for the element of surprise.For the Galaxy Note 8, expect a radically overhauled device this year.
The biggest upgrade will be the phablet's display. Following the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+, Samsung will also equip the Note 8 with a display which features minimum bezels. The phablet will also feature a dual camera setup, a first for any of Samsung's flagship devices. At the processing end, the Snapdragon 835 with 6GB RAM is rumored, though RAM might also be set at 4GB.
Now, Samsung's head of Mobile Communications, Gao Dongzhen has confirmed the Galaxy Note 8's launch date. According to him, Samsung will launch the device in August's last weeks. Earlier rumors claim that the Galaxy Note 8 will launch on August 26th, so today's news also falls in line with such claims. The phablet will be very simple in terms of design. Samsung will remove its fingerprint sensor from the front and place it at the back along side the dual camera setup.
While we're not sure of the ergonomic implications of such a move, it will remove unnecessary visual overload from the device's front facade. It's sad that we won't get virtual fingerprint recognition, as a lot of folks have been looking forward for the feature. Who knows, maybe Apple will deliver. Thoughts?
