The Last of Us Part II, the highly anticipated sequel to 2013's Game of the Year, was revealed late last year during the PlayStation Experience event.
We don't really know much about Naughty Dog's The Last of Us Part II, so fans have been actively scouring the little material available in the search for hints.
It turns out that the game might very well be set in Seattle, Washington, according to Reddit user falconbox. Concept art and stills from the reveal trailer have been compared to real-life pictures and the results are impressive.
The comparisons begin with parking signs as well as the trees seen in the reveal trailer, which can be both found in the Seattle area.
Things get more interesting with this public parking from an official concept art, which can be found on Seattle's 1st Avenue.
Moreover, maps have also been drawn to illustrate that the forest area seen in the official The Last of Us Part II trailer could be actually a park located near that public parking.
What's interesting to note is that The Last of Us ended with Joel and Ellie back at Tommy's settlement in Jackson, Wyoming. According to Google Maps, that's some 860 miles away from Seattle.
Then again, The Last of Us Part II is set five years after the original game. Ellie, once again played by Ashley Johnson, will be the lead playable character this time around. Game Director and Writer Neil Druckmann said that if the first installment was about love, this sequel will be about hate - which is plenty obvious already from the very first trailer.
Of course, it's also possible that Seattle is just one of the locations we'll visit in The Last of Us Part II, just like in the original title. Still, the Pacific Northwest of the United States seems to be a popular setting these days for games, if you think about Alan Wake, Infamous Second Son, Life is Strange, Days Gone and many others.
There's still no release date for The Last of Us Part II, but all signs so far point to a late 2018 or early 2019 launch.
