Apart from satisfying all of Apple’s OLED panel requirements for the iPhone 8, Samsung is also involved with other components that will exist and function in the upcoming near-bezel-less handset. This will range from dynamic random-access memory (DRAM) chips and NAND flash memory.

Samsung Display currently holds more than 95 percent of the global small and medium-sized OLED panel market, and with tons of manufacturing resources at its disposal, there is no questioning Apple’s decision on tapping the Korean giant for this particular component.

Starting from next year, however, Apple will also include LG Display to provide a small portion of OLED technology for the 2018 iPhone lineup. This will be done to reduce dependency on Samsung Display as well as to claim better pricing negotiations for this hardware.

LG Innotech, on the other hand, is the provider of dual-cameras and circuit boards for Apple smartphones. It will also provide Apple with 3D sensing modules, which will be used for AR functions, which according to analysts is going to be a key feature in the iPhone 8.

Apple’s flagship handset is expected to be unveiled sometime during the month of September so we’ll have all the information you’re seeking about the device at that time.
