Available from yesterday on PCs and PlayStation 4, Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice is doing a lot of talks, though the argument of controversy has little to do with the game itself.

Now, there have been numerous controversies emerging on the social networks, online media, etc, against the apparent Permadeath system present within Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, a new Ninja Theory game available now on PC and PS4.

Warning: This article contains spoilers on Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice. If you would like to preserve your personal gaming experience, we recommend you to stop reading from here onwards.

In the early stages of the game, Senua finds herself fighting a battle that she will not win in any way: a script of the game will show you a fight that you will never win no matter what, and from this point on, the body of our protagonist will be attacked by black tendrils that will always grow more in relation to the deaths we will face during the adventure (a detail specified in-game by the title itself), to bring, theoretically, to the definitive game over. This initially led to the absolute certainty that the game included a Permadeath system; that the game should be inevitably started over from the beginning if you suffered too many deaths.

But this is not the case, as demonstrated by PCGamesN media: the video you will find at the end of this article shows that even after 50 deaths you can continue the journey from where it was interrupted.

At this point, it would seem that the feature simply serves to add a certain sense of tension to the player, which could thus lead us to tackle dangers with an immersion and more attention. We will see if Ninja Theory decides to comment officially on it.

Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice is now available for PC and PS4. Check out in our review why the game is a masterpiece in many ways.
