Apple's recently published HomePod firmware has detailed quite a lot about the iPhone 8 and the smart speaker itself. Now, Steve Troughton-Smith has prodded further into the HomePod firmware and have revealed more details about the forthcoming iPhone 8. There are two note worthy additions detailed about the high-end smartphone from Apple, both of which reveal details on the display properties. It has been revealed that the virtual Home button is resizable and the screen layout. So let's dive into see some more details on the subject.
iPhone 8 To Feature A Resizable Virtual Home Button And More
According to Steve Troughton-Smith, the virtual Home button can hide or show itself at certain places. For instance, the virtual Home button can be hidden while a video is being played in fullscreen. Likewise, it will appear at times when there's corresponding functionality present on the screen. However, there is no API present for developers which will allow them to change the color of the virtual Home button. This leads us to think that the default color of the Home button will be something that blends well in every colored background.
Apart from the Home button's visibility, previous reports have also detailed that the iPhone 8 will feature a Function Area where the Home button will be situated. As it is expected the iPhone 8 will be equipped with a 5.8-inch OLED display. However, only 5.15-inches will be usable. This is because the rest of the bottom screen will be reserved for the Function Area. Similar to the new MacBook Pro, the bottom area or the Function area will be solely reserved for system and functions.
