Google's collection of online productivity tools - the G Suite, is receiving a substantial update today that brings new features on board for Google Docs, Sheets and Slides. The update mostly focuses on collaboration, but it also brings support for Google Cloud Search.
The update will also bring new templates along with add-ons from associates like LegalZoom, DocuSign, LucidChart and others.
In a blog post, Birkan Icacan, Product Manager, Google Docs writes:
These templates allow you to customize and deploy tools specific to your organization’s workflows. We’ve launched five examples of this in the general template gallery, like the new Mutual Non-disclosure agreement (NDA) template from LegalZoom and DocuSign. With this template, businesses can quickly create an NDA and collect signatures using the DocuSign Add-on for Docs. Bonus: it also automatically detects the required signature fields on the template, which saves even more time when you request signatures.
Multiple Versions of Docs Saved Separately
Earlier, users used to share Word or Excel documents via email to ensure that everybody is following up. Back to the present day, with this update, users need not keep track of every document individually. The new update allows users to track every revision of Google Docs Sheets and Slides, as multiple versions of the document are saved with different names to make tracking easier than ever.
Integration with Google Cloud Search in Docs and Slides also means that G Suite Business and Enterprise users will now be able to search for information within internal documents without exiting the editor. Earlier, users had to open Cloud Search to find documents specifically, but now they can perform searches within Docs and Slides.
Besides, the update brings the ability to view a clean version of the file in Docs that includes no comment or edits. However, if the user wants to have a quick solution of all the recommended suggestions by the editor, then they can now accept or reject all of them with a single click. In addition to all the new functionalities, users can now compare documents in the Docs - thanks to the new Litera Change-Pro and Workshare add-ons for Docs.
For the smartphone users, the latest G Suite update brings the functionality to suggest changes on iOS and Android both. This feature must have been on the list of most wanted features as who doesn't want the ability to get through the document edits without opening the desktop. Overall, the update makes document sharing and editing easier than ever.
