Yesterday fans of Xbox One received a bittersweet news: Crackdown 3 was delayed and will now debut in 2018. Faced with this situation, the Xbox boss talked about Crackdown 3 delay and asked the players for patience.

On Twitter, the leader of the Xbox team, Phil Spencer said, "It's always disappointing to move a date. We are very committed to shipping @Crackdown 3 to the level of quality the fans deserve."

The news came from Shannon Loftis, manager of the Microsoft Studios Publishing, who commented that the studio related to the development of the game needs more time to polish the quality of the game.

"We’re very excited about Crackdown 3, and so are many fans, and so it’s a difficult call to move the release date," Loftis said in an interview with Polygon. "However, we want to make sure to deliver the right game, with the right quality, and at the right time. Crackdown 3 is a hugely ambitious game and we want to ensure we deliver the right experiences all the way through every part of the game, whether that’s campaign, co-op multiplayer or our competitive multiplayer mode, Wrecking Zone. Getting the balance right between the three modes is important, and we are going to take the extra development time to ensure that. Gamers can expect Crackdown 3 in Spring of 2018."

Loftis later confirmed that they will also take advantage of the additional months of development to improve the visual presentation of Crackdown 3, which was criticized in E3 2017. "Among other items, we are taking the extra time to focus on the visual polish so gamers can feel completely immersed in a living world. We want them to really feel the larger-than life enemies as they’re exploring the expansive open world, combatting crime and collecting orbs."

Crackdown 3 was announced at E3 2014, so those who are expecting the title to be released have already become accustomed to being patient. That said, this delay may result in a real bitter gulp since when Microsoft shared its release date, everything seemed to indicate that nothing would prevent us from playing it before the end of this year.

Crackdown 3's multiplayer was supposed to be showcased during Gamescom 2017, which begins next week. We'll see if that's still the case.
