Pachter: Crackdown 3 Delay Will Not Impact Xbox One X Launch Sales

Rajesh Vishwakarma

Yesterday many of the fans of Xbox received a difficult news because Microsoft confirmed that Crackdown 3 would be delayed until spring of 2018. The cause, as we informed yesterday, is that the game is not ready and the teams linked to its development want to polish every last detail to deliver a quality product.

As expected before the announcement of the delay, Crackdown 3 was meant to debut on November 7 accompanying the release of Xbox One X. Now with a new release date, scheduled for some time in Spring 2018, some wonder if this decision will impact the initial sales of Xbox One X.

Based on this, the Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter addressed the issue and called everyone to calm down because he thinks that it will not affect Xbox One X in its launch sales: "Delays are pretty regular and to be expected. The game isn’t done, and the delay isn’t really very long, probably six to eight months. Not an issue at all, if people are buying Xbox One X for Crackdown, they’ll buy it in March instead of November."

At the same time, the analyst mentioned that the delay of Crackdown 3 can not be expected to impact the sales of Xbox One X because he does not expect the console to sell much in its first months: "I don’t think Xbox One X sales are going to be very high in the first place because of price, and don’t think a six to eight month delay for Crackdown makes any material difference."
