If you don't have money to spare for a full-blown developer account with Apple, then the company's Beta Software Program is the way to go. Not only it gives you access to beta software for testing, but it's also absolutely free. Once you sign up, you can either take iOS, macOS or tvOS for a spin, without having to spend a dime.
Today, Apple has released iOS 11 Public Beta 6, right after iOS 11 Beta 7. Those enrolled in the program can download the software right now over the air. Also keep in mind that the over the air route is the only method for downloading the pre-release software. Apple does not offer any restore image for iOS 11 Public Beta testers therefore everything happens over the air. This also means that if you're installing iOS 11 Public Beta for the first time, you won't lose your files or settings either, as opposed to a clean install using an iOS 11 restore image from the Apple developer portal.
Download iOS 11 Public Beta 6 OTA - How to
- Connect your iPhone or iPad to a WiFi network.
- Launch the Settings app from the home screen.
- Navigate to General > Software Update.
- Now simply tap on Download and Install.
iOS 11 Public Beta 6 carries the same changes as iOS 11 Beta 7 and focuses a lot on bug fixes and performance enhancements. Therefore it's highly recommended that you go ahead and download it right away.
