Xiaomi didn’t provide any follow up regarding its bezel-less marvel it released last year but a new leak suggests that the Mi MIX 2 might be just around the corner and not just any other corner, but it looks like the Chinese manufacturer might be looking to rain on Apple’s parade as the announcement date is set for September 12.

According to a previous rumor, the Mi MIX 2, or the Mi MIX II will get a screen-to-body ratio of 93 percent, making it cross the record of the original Mi MIX, which sports a 91.3 percent screen-to-body ratio. The reduced bezels do bring some drawbacks, ranging from the rear-facing fingerprint reader and a piezoelectric speaker, which touts less voice clarity over a regular smartphone speaker.
Rumor also has it that the Mi MIX 2 will also get a better speaker so the user will be able to engage in conversations more clearly and for longer sessions. As for the hardware, it is possible that the flagship will feature a Snapdragon 836, just like its predecessor came armed with a Snapdragon 821, but time will hold the real key for the company’s endless list of decisions for the phone.
Starting from 2018, we expect to see manufacturers shift the security feature to an in-display solution to that it becomes easy for the smartphone user to access it and Xiaomi will probably be one of the first recipients to take advantage of it. As a bonus, the Mi MIX 2 could also come with a dual-camera solution just like the affordable Xiaomi Mi6.
