Ad-free music streaming is something that appeals to everyone. Nobody wants to hear unwanted ads when playing our favourite music, but the regular pricing of ad-free music streaming services is a bit high for some users like students. Keeping that in mind, streaming services like Apple Music and Spotify already have special plans crafted just for the students at cheaper rates. Joining the league of student plans offering services is Amazon Music Unlimited.

Students can now listen to ad-free music on Amazon Music Unlimited for just $4.99 per month. It also means that students will be shelling lesser amount than Amazon Prime subscribers ($7.99 per month) and non-Prime customers ($9.99 per month). Students can also opt for Prime Student membership at just $6 for six months, which means they just have to shell out $1 every month and get all Prime benefits.

To recall, Amazon already has a family plan at $149/£149 per year Prime subscribers. By reaching out to the students, the company is just trying out to extend its consumer base. However, competing with the likes of Apple Music, Spotify, Pandora is not going to be easy for Amazon as these services have other features like exclusives and appealing playlists. Amazon Music Unlimited is not even a year old, so it has a lot of catching up to do. Apple Music has been offering the student plan at $4.99 per month since May 2016.

Student documents needed for Amazon Music Unlimited

To opt for the student plan on Amazon Music Unlimited, you will be asked to provide verification of enrolment. A third-party vendor will carry out the verification process if student status can't be confirmed then students will be asked to upload enrollment documentation manually. Students must provide one of the following documents:

  • Official Enrollment Letter from your academic institution (acceptance letters will not be approved)
  • Class schedule for the current academic term
  • Registration receipt or tuition receipt
  • Transcript that shows classes currently in progress
  • Other school issued document that displays your first/last name, an issue date from the current term or within the last three months

Besides, Amazon also offers tips to the students on how to use Alexa's voice controls for music. Want music to help you wake up for class? Ask, “Alexa, play wake up music.” Need music to help you study? Just ask, “Alexa, play classical music for studying,” or Alexa, play pop music for focusing.”
