WhatsApp Reveals How Businesses Will Interact With Users Via Verified Accounts

WhatsApp is one of the most popular internet messaging apps to date and while it has been a huge success, it struggled heavily to monetize the service. The company introduced the $1 fee per annum method but it did not yield positive results so it decided to ditch the option for good. However, since the messaging service is now owned by Facebook, continuous improvements are always in the works to deliver the best user experience. In the coming days, significant changes are coming to WhatsApp which will allow businesses to interact with users. So let's dive in to see some more details on the matter.

WhatsApp To Soon Allow Businesses To Interact With Users

According to a dedicated page on WhatsApp's website, the company is in the works to launch a pilot program which will bridge the gap between businesses and customers. It could possibly allow the popular messaging app to generate revenue through the process. The company in its post says that if you have a specific business' phone number in your contacts list, it will appear under the same name. However, if you do not, it will be assigned by the business.

There are several opportunities associated with the step which will ensure businesses to provide various services like booking tickets, make reservations and a lot more. All you would have to do will be to send a couple of messages on WhatsApp. So how would WhatsApp confirm the authenticity of the business? Businesses would be verified by WhatsApp and would feature a green badge next to their names.

As for the visual differences compared to standard WhatsApp chats, chats between a business and its customer will appear in yellow colored chat clouds. Moreover, these messages cannot be deleted. In addition to this, you do have the option available to block the businesses which you feel are spamming you or sending an enormous amount of messages.

This is it for Facebook's attempts to fill the gap between businesses and users. We have previously heard a lot about it, but this is the very first manifestation of the company's attempts to step up to the next level in the category.
