Well if Samsung is not too focused on changing up the Galaxy S9 from a design perspective, that might explain the latest rumor detailing its early announcement month.

Rumor Claims That Galaxy S9 Will Be Announced During Month of January - Samsung Display Starting OLED Shipments Starting in November to Commence Establishment

The month of January seems like a good start for the Galaxy S9 because it will mean the handset will gain an upper hand during the start of the new year. Samsung will naturally take some time to officially launch the phone, which is why it will continue to woo its loyal customers with pre-orders and a bevy of freebies that are accompanied with those pre-orders.

According to The Investor, the Galaxy S9’s display manufacturing process will start from November, as Samsung Display is expected to ramp up production for the phone’s component. The global launch of the device is said to take place during mid-February, with the phone expected to be running a Snapdragon 845 for the U.S. version and an Exynos-equivalent SoC for the global variant.

Part of the reason why Samsung could be aiming to announce the Galaxy S9 much earlier than expected is that the company will be the recipient to early Snapdragon 845 shipments. Samsung having enjoyed the smartphone business success with the launch of the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ will certainly want to replicate that level of success for its partners and for itself, which Qualcomm would greatly appreciate, so can expect some favoritism to be planted here.

There are rumors that the Galaxy S9 will feature detachable accessories, which are similar to Moto Mods as well as a substrate-like PCB to increase overall battery capacity. This will be a nice little addition to some gripes that users experienced with the Galaxy S8, so let us hope that Samsung is able to listen to users and address those complaints accordingly.
