Super Mario Odyssey, the new, big platform game starring everyone's favorite plumber, is getting close to release, but there's still quite a bit we don't know about the game, like the total number of Kingdoms and their names. Nintendo has yet to talk about the matter, but some hints have been dropped recently.

Alongside Super Mario Odyssey, Nintendo will release a new set of amiibo figures. The box art for the new figures has been revealed recently and it features a world map with the names of the game's kingdoms. Among them is the Mushroom Kingdom, so it seems like Mario will be making a journey to the most popular location of the series.

Not too long ago, our own Dave had the chance to spend some time with Super Mario Odyssey, and he was definitely impressed by the upcoming Switch exclusive, noting how this could be Mario's best game ever.

Super Mario Odyssey is thus far filling out to be one of the best Mario games ever – I could nitpick that, for example, the resolution doesn’t seem to be particularly high, but then, the game is aiming for a (mostly) stable 60FPS, which is a lot better than increased pixel density anyway. Assuming Super Mario Odyssey’s quality keeps up throughout, this will be an essential Switch title, and, just perhaps, one of the greatest Mario games of all time.

Super Mario Odyssey launches on Nintendo Switch in all regions on October 27th.
